Taylor Swift gave fans a sneak peek of her new album “Midnights” before it came out on Oct. 21. Swift revealed the names of the songs on the track list in a way typical of a Swiftie.
In a TikTok video series called “Midnights Mayhem with Me,” which started at midnight on Sept. 21 and was called “Midnights Mayhem with Me,” Swift spun a bingo wheel with balls numbered one through thirteen (a digit for each track on the album).
The number ball she dropped matched the name of the tracking number, she said. The first ball she chose was number 13, the singer’s lucky number, often used as a hidden message in her art.
“Midnights” only has 13 songs, which is less than Swift’s last two albums, “Folklore” and “Evermore,” which had 16 and 15 songs, respectively. The singer said “Midnights” will be split into Side A and Side B. Target’s “Midnights” special edition CD will have three extra songs.
The songs on the album are all about the same thing. Swift wrote on Instagram that “Midnights” would tell “the stories of 13 sleepless nights” from her life. Swift has penned lyrics about midnight before, so this is like a more extended version of a favorite theme.
