In his own words, he explains, “This album represents the incredible journey I've embarked on, encompassing my mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional growth—my personal treasure, if you will (which I delve deeper into on the album, symbolized by the pyramid). This journey hasn't always been pretty; I've faced numerous challenges and been my own harshest critic along the way. The front cover visually captures the external manifestation of that psychological warfare.”
Russ describes the back cover, which portrays the internal dynamics at play—a constant battle between himself, his inner child, and his shadow. He emphasizes the importance of self-exploration and excavation in creating this album, revealing that digital and vinyl versions are available for pre-order.
“I'm excited. I'm nervous. SANTIAGO is my journey to self-love & self-mastery while touching on the obstacles that have provided resistance along the way…feelings of emptiness, inadequacy, imposter syndrome, doubt, anger, and shame (to name a few), and ultimately, issues from my childhood that have shown up in my adult life. I attempt to understand, navigate and heal. It's the most vulnerable music I've ever made, and I had to excavate to make it. I hope you all gain the courage to face my emotions by listening to me face my emotions. It was a confronting experience, and I hope it resonates with people trying to navigate the obstacles on their journey because, as Paulo Coelho said, “one man's journey is every man's journey.”
