The name of the mixtape comes from YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s hometown, N. 38th Street, which inspired 38 Baby and 38 Baby 2, and Quando’s alleged membership in the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips.
After teasing fans for years with RIAA-certified songs like “I Am Who They Say I Am” with Kevin Gates and “This for The,” Never Broke Again Instagram posted a cover art for the mixtape in early 2022.
Quando’s close friend Lul Pab passed away, so “Give Me A Sign” was made to honor him and YoungBoy.
The A&R for Atlantic Records, Pusha V, gave hints about the mixtape every week after the single came out. On Instagram on November 9, 2022, Pusha gave a hint about when the mixtape would be out.
