Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, who is better known as Nas, has released his third album of 2023. The 50-year-old rapper's work ethic is unparalleled in the history of the genre. Since 2020, he and his collaborator, Hit-Boy, have released a considerable amount of music.
This is their sixth album in a row, and they have completed two trilogies in this period. The King's Disease series was the first one to conclude, which wrapped up on April 28, 2023, and now the Magic trilogy concludes with its third and final installment. God's Son released this album on his birthday, which makes it even more special for his fans.
Magic 3 is the lengthiest album in the trilogy, featuring 15 tracks with a total runtime of 45 minutes and 50 seconds. Nas and Hit-Boy produced the entire album, which is a testament to Nas's talent. Across the project, Nas's rapping is rock solid and impressive.
The sixth track, “Never Die,” is one of the highlights of the album and features Lil Wayne, the only guest on the album. Despite their limited work history, both Nas and Lil Wayne deliver incredible flows, wordplay, and bars on this punchy three-minute song. Some of Wayne's bars are below, but Nas also delivers some powerful lines. “This my Tom Cruise flow, top gun, they too slow / Computers ain't fast enough to keep up with Nasty 'cause.”
