Duncan Laurence, the Dutch singer-songwriter and winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, has just released his latest single titled “Skyboy”. This track follows his previous releases “Electric Life” and “I Want It All” and serves as the title track and third single from his upcoming album, which is set to be released on May 26th of this year under EMI.
According to Laurence, “Skyboy” is about breaking free from toxic environments and people, so that you can be yourself and chase your dreams. The song encourages people to embrace and accept themselves, and to live life on their own terms. The track was written by Duncan Laurence, together with his fiancé, songwriter Jordan Garfield, and producers Leroy Clampitt (known for his work with Dua Lipa and Justin Bieber) and Wouter Hardy (who worked on Laurence's “Arcade”).
Laurence's previous hit song, “Arcade”, has gained over 20 billion combined global streams since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. The track was a viral hit, reaching the top spot on Spotify's Global Viral chart upon release, and has since taken off on TikTok with over 80 billion views. “Arcade” has also received Gold/Platinum certifications in 37 countries, including Platinum certification in the U.S.
Recently, Laurence collaborated with singer/songwriter/producer and Eurovision 2022 breakout star Rosa Linn on “WDIA (Would Do It Again)”, which Billboard Magazine praised as “an old-school post-breakup duet, showcasing the singers' vocal skills.”
Duncan de Moor, who performs under the stage name Duncan Laurence, is a talented Dutch singer and songwriter. He had the honor of representing the Netherlands in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Arcade”. Notably, Duncan Laurence won the competition, which marked the first time the Netherlands had won Eurovision since 1975.
