Boosie Badazz has surprised everyone by making a quick return to music after a brief incarceration. He recently dropped a ten-track album called First Day Back which, in parts, reflects the vibe of someone who has just regained their freedom.
It's not entirely clear how much of the album was recorded before his time in jail, but the vocal performances are classic Boosie – nasal and expressive, with shifts between passionate singing and aggressive verses. He has celebrated his release from jail on Instagram Live, and it seems there is much more to celebrate now.
First Day Back offers a mix of softer tracks like “Words Mean More” and party anthems like “Playing Games” and “Jump”. Guest appearances from Rich Homie Quan, Og Dre, and Tootie Raww add variety to the tracklist. It's great to see Boosie return to his prolific nature and come back with such grandeur and circumstance. Although his legal future is uncertain, this release offers a lot to look forward to.
