Anitta has announced that her sixth studio album, Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story, is due out this Thursday, August 17th, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Brazilian artist first announced the record earlier this month, sharing the title, album art, and pre-save information. Now, she's confirmed that fans only have a few more days of waiting before they get to dive into the album, which is shaping up to be another genre-bending demonstration of her passion for bringing the sounds of her homeland to a global listenership.
Previously-released single “Funk Rave” captures this perfectly. With an irresistibly dancy beat, the song's understated production leaves plenty of room for the rhythmic engine to hit in full force. Over top, Anitta's signature pop prowess is at its A-game, with her commanding presence taking center stage — her opening line is even: “Look at what you can't have, boss bitch.” The song's music video also pays homage to Brazilian culture, with street scenes and plenty of twerking.
Larissa de Macedo Machado, professionally known as Anitta, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, dancer, occasional television host, and actress. She signed a recording contract with Warner Music Brazil in January 2013 after releasing her debut single “Meiga e Abusada”.
