November 9, 2022 – Oddisee, a rapper and producer, will release To What End (Outernote Label) on January 20. This will be his first full-length album since The Iceberg came out in 2017.
Oddisee also just started a full band tour of North America with 27 stops. The tour starts on December 15 at Webster Hall in New York City and ends on December 29 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. See below for a full list of things to do.
The 16 songs on To What End cover everything that comes up when you look into human psychology, especially motivation and incentives. “People Watching” looks at how far people will go to be accepted, often spending more than they can afford.
The song “Many Hats” was directly influenced by his time in therapy and his realization that it’s okay to ask for and accept help. “I’m many things to many people, but I’m never me, and that’s starting to get to me,” he raps.
Collaboration was another “uncomfortable thing” that Oddisee had to deal with on this album. To What End has more guests and collaborators than ever before. Bilal, Phonte, C.S. Armstrong, Noochie, Haile Supreme, and Freeway are just a few of the names.
Says Oddisee: “Music has always been a way for me to feel better. To What End is a musical record of the last few years of my life. It’s a record of my life and how my views changed over time. I hope this record gets to the people who need to hear it the most.”
